Negative DC Breakdown Characteristics of C<sub>3</sub>F<sub>7</sub>CN / CO<sub>2</sub> Gas Mixture for Application in High Voltage Accelerators

This study investigates the technical feasibility of retro-filling a C3F7CN/CO2 gas mixture for existing SF6-insulated accelerators. Negative DC breakdown characteristics 20% C3F7CN / 80% CO2 and SF6 varying pressure, gap distance field uniformity are analyzed experimentally using four distinctly different electrode configurations. The shows higher strength than configurations with high uniformity, whereas outperforms under non-uniform field. Importantly, exhibits comparable insulation capability to in 10/30 mm coaxial geometry similar as found practical gas-insulated equipment. results this work contribute development potential retro-fill solution
